PS2P Delegation in Washington, DC
Puget Sound to Pacific Update
Earlier this month, the Puget Sound to Pacific (PS2P) 2023 RAISE grant corecipients gathered in Washington D.C. The event was hosted by the Rails to Trails Conservancy (RTC). RTC covered the expenses and arranged discussions with funding experts from Federal Highways, American Hiking Association, Philadelphia’s Circuit Trail network and DC’s Capitol Crescent.
The group also met with US Representative Derek Kilmer, and Senator Patty Murray’s staff. Peninsula Trails Coalition (PTC), along with the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation and the North Kitsap Trails Association established the Puget Sound to Pacific Collaborative (PS2Pc) in 2022. PS2Pc developed the successful 2023 RAISE grant application which provides $16.13m for design in 14 jurisdictions for 100 miles of gaps in the 200 mile Olympic Discovery Trail and the Sound to Olympics regional trails. The continuous trails will connect from the ferry terminals on Puget Sound with the Pacific Coast at La Push.
