6-25 to 7-3 Transmission pole replacement in Sequim
Construction begins today on the Transmission pole replacement project along Washington Street in Sequim.
The contractor doing the work is NW Utilities. They will be placing “Trail Closed Ahead” signage as requested at the locations identified in the attached email. As has been previously discussed, NW Utilities will be closing the trail for construction during the following times:
• June 25; 7am-6pm
• June 26: 7am-6pm
• June 30: 7am-6pm
• July 1, 7am – July 2, 6am
• July 2 Midnight -July 3, 6am
Starting June 16th, a contractor (NW Utility Services) will be working for Clallam PUD to replace Transmission poles along Washington street from Simdars Rd. to S. Brown road. This work will impact trail access to the ODT from Simdars to Rhodefer roads.
To perform this work we will be shutting down the North side of Washington street, and diverting traffic into the center turn lane, in order to provide access for the Line crews and their vehicles to work. With this setup, there really is no way to safely divert pedestrian traffic around the work zone. Additionally, allowing any kind of access through the work zone on the trail is not safe for pedestrians below nor for the line crews working near energized lines overhead, and would also cause delays in construction.
Due to this, Clallam PUD would likely be shutting down ODT trail access between Simdars and Rhodefer while we are working on the project.
(11) poles on this project lie along the ODT. Crews will require multiple set-ups (meaning multiple trips to each pole location) to complete their work. Therefore it would be best if we could shut this section of the trail down for any days that we will be working on those (11) poles.
